Manicure Monday: Topshop Peel Off Polish

I picked this up at the #NottsBBMeet in the shade 'on the blink'. I was intrigued to try it as sometimes when I pick my nail varnish off it leaves my nails damaged underneath and I hoped this wouldn't. I've actually found  that models own polish with a base and top coat peels off pretty easily but still leaves damage.

When applying it, it needed two coats but was quite easy to apply and left a gel like finish which didn't need a top coat.

I was worried that it would peel off when I didn't want it to but that wasn't an issue, it lasted like any other polish.

Unfortunately, I was disappointed. It wasn't actually that easy to peel off and left my nails looking very dry and damaged. This wasn't the base coat, it was my nails!

I used nail varnish remover to remove it from the other hand and you can see that they were left in much better condition! It was pretty difficult to remove though.

I might try and use this again without a base coat, but so far I'm unimpressed! It's a shame because I like the colour.

Have you tried 'peel off polish'?

Accessorize Nail Polish: Green Lagoon

I have another Accessorize nail polish that I love so I was very tempted by this one which was actually in the sale at 70% off so it was a bargain at £1.20 instead of £4.
This colour/shade is called Green Lagoon. I have to say it doesn't really suit, It's more like baby blue, anyway, I love it!

Now, the application was pretty interesting. It was thinner than I expected and if I was heavy handed it ended up dripping down the sides of my nails. It also needed at least two coats, maybe more and needed a lot of attention to get all round coverage, not something I'd apply in a rush. However, the effect was lovely, very shiny and I was really pleased.

This colour looks different in different lights, under bright light it is almost white so it took a while to get used to it but It's a lovely change.

Primark Nail Polish Review

I was tempted by these Primark nail varnish because I liked the look of the colours. Now, I know what you're thinking, what can be expected from £2 for four, really? Well not much. I didn't expect these to blow me away but have tried other budget varnishes like Natural Collection and been impressed so I thought I'd see whether these were up to much.

The shades don't have names or numbers but there is a pinky one, a purple one, a turquoise and a blue!

I tried them without a base coat or top coat first. They applied quite well and I liked the colours, the purpley one did lack pigment though and needed a few coats.

But the colours were pretty much all they had going for them, and the fact that they don't stain your nails. They went on shiny but dried quite matte and seemed to attract dust and show up ridges in the nails, not the glossy look you hope for.

They're not terrible but not surprisingly, you definitely get what you pay for. I did try using a top and base coat but it didn't really help.

Verdict- Not worth buying. I'll be spending more in future for a more luxury feel.
