Tag: The Seven Deadly Sins of Beauty

Greed
What is your most expensive beauty item?
I suck at spending money on beauty products, as much as I lust after high end brands! If you don't count freebies from events then I have nothing that exceeds about £6 like my Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation. Even when it comes to nail varnish I have Models Own and Essie but get them cheap!

Wrath
Which beauty item do you have a love/hate relationship with?
Definitely eyeliner, I love the effect it can have on your make up but hate applying it because I'm rubbish!

Gluttony
What brand makes up the biggest chunk of your make up collection?
Rimmel! The best lip products and foundation.

Sloth
What product do you neglect to use due to laziness?
Eyelash curlers, I just don't see the point!

Pride
What beauty product gives you the most confidence?
Mascara, my eyes just don't look the same without it. BB cream comes a close second, along with concealer but on a good skin day, mascara takes it.

Lush
Which item is at the top of your beauty wish list?
Nars Orgasm and Albatross blusher and highlighter.

Envy
What make up product/look is great on others but not on yourself?
Bronzer, I need a masterclass! It just doesn't seem to work on my pale skin, even for contouring.

I shall go to the ball!

As 4 years of uni is finished for me now it was time for a celebration with my best friends at our 'Teachers Ball', basically a Graduation Ball for just our course.

The Dress-

I found this maxi dress in Debenhams and fell in love with it, I love the colour and it was the perfect length for me (something I normally struggle with). It was little cut outs at the waist which are surprisingly flattering!

Accessories-

I went for a simple silver clutch bag from Accessorize and then some Navy sparkly sandals from Primark because of the length of the dress and because I wanted to be comfy!

I did my fingers and toenails the same using 17 Holographic polish with Models Own 'Juicy Jules' on top, very glittery!

For Make Up I went for quick a subtle look. I used MUA's Undressed pallette on the eyes using a darker colour in the crease and to line the eye. I then used a turquoise eyeliner pencil on the water line for a subtle pop of colour. I wore Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey on my lips.

The finished look-

I had a fantastic evening, the ball was held at a hotel and we had three lovely courses of food: Asparagus tart, Chicken in creamy sauce and the richest chocolate brownie ever!

We also got a picture from the photographers, these are some of my favourite people:

I'm on the top left :)

Manicure Monday: essie Lights

A nail polish I'm loving at the moment is essie in 'Lights'. I'ts a lovely hot pink and weirdly, I used to hate pink but I've been loving a bit of bright pink on my nails to add some fun to my outfit lately!

If you read my Life Update post you'll know I've had a couple of interviews recently and because they've been in schools I haven't wanted to paint my nails. But I actually really missed having them colourful so this colour has cheered me up!

Unfortunately, this seems like a different formula to other essie polishes I've tried and chips really easily and doesn't last too long. Which is a shame cuz' I love it!

Life Update....

So I've been pretty busy recently and thought I'd update you on what's going on in my life!

Market Square, Nottingham

Job hunting
As I do a primary teaching course we'll all been applying for jobs for September. Some of my friends are moving back home but I decided I wanted to look in Nottingham, the city I have been at uni at. I love the city and the idea of getting a flat and staying here, living like a proper adult and excited me!
So, I don't know if you know but when applying for teaching jobs it's advised to arrange a visit and look around the school first. So I ended up looking around about 9 or 10 schools and decided a couple weren't for me.
Then there was applications to do, personalising each one to the school.
The whole process was, and still is, pretty stressful as you can't help but compare yourself to friends who seem to be getting jobs and interviews before you.

Teaching Interviews
Then, when I was lucky enough to be invited to interviews there was the preparing for my lesson and interview in advance. I actually had two interviews and luckily both asked me to teach an English lesson so I could use a similar lesson! I was unsuccessful in the first but knowing what to expect calmed me for the second. On my second interview I also had to prepare a 5 minute presentation about my lesson. The second was actually a really enjoyable day, the staff were lovely and I enjoyed chatting to other candidates. Then there was the nerve wracking wait for the call and I am so excited to say I GOT THE JOB!

The job
I'm so excited to go into school in July to get acquainted before having my own KS2 class in September. It's a lovely school and I can't wait. I've been addicted to Pinterest, looking at how I'm going to set up my classroom.

University
This week is actually my last ever week at university after 4 years which is very strange! I'm writing an essay that's due in on Wednesday then it's goodbye from the lecturers. On Friday we then have our teachers ball which is very exciting, I have my dress sorted (photos to come after!)

Flat hunting
As I'm now going to be staying in Nottingham and visiting my school in July I need to find a flat to move into before my student house tenancy ends in June. This is very exciting as I've been looking forward to decorating a flat and living alone for a while. It's great that i have friends staying in the area that I can visit too. My parents are coming down to help me flat hunt then July/ August I'll preparing my flat/ buying furniture and preparing my classroom.

Exciting stuff!
Good luck to anyone else graduating this year (mines in July) and job hunting!

Facemask Friday: Apivita express beauty with pink clay

This friday I'm trying out Apivita's pink clay cleansing mask sample. It applied well with a creamy consistency and slight pinky tone, It did sting a little but as I have sensitive skin, most masks tend to!
It dried well on the skin in the ten minutes I was wearing it and removal was relatively easy with a muslin cloth. Again, my skin was left pretty red but with moisturiser and face oil it quickly calmed down and felt soft and clean.

The effect continued to the next day and my skin felt cleansed and less oily.

Ted Baker Spring Summer 2013

As most of you will know, I love Ted Baker at the moment and find myself spending a lot of time on their website looking at what I could buy if I had some extra cash!

Then I found out about the competition they're running to show your 3 favourite items of the collection, more info here.

If you saw my Birthday Wishlist you'll know I'm completely obsessed with the orchid print! So it seemed only right to go with the beautiful Treasured Orchid Print Dress as I love it and think it would be lovely for a summery day out or even a summer wedding. I thought it went really well with the Bow Ballet Pumps as I love the light green colour and have been loving the jelly-type shoes for a while now, they look so comfy! Last but not least, I think this Crystal Bow Clutch Bag is just beautiful with matching print inside but a lovely light pink fabric outside.

I simply love this outfit and lots of the Ted Baker spring summer collection. What are your favourites?

Review: Make Believe Bronzer

Having not heard of makebelieve as a brand when I tried their highlighter (reviewed here) and being a bronzer virgin I was excited to try out this product. As I have very pale skin I was pleased that this bronzer was on the lighter side.

Firstly, I like the packaging, although it's on the bulky side, the kabuki brush is lovely quality and so soft.

When using the bronzer it was well pigmented but didn't come out too dark and was buildable. I'm still not sold on bronzer for my pale skin but was pleased with the subtle look this created.

April Favourites

Sorry I'm a bit late on this one. I'm now in my final two weeks of uni ever so it's interview and essay central, busy busy busy! Anyway, most of this month's favourites are goodies from my #NottsBBMeet goody bag because I've been playing with them all and trying them out.

Neal & Wolf Daily Cleansing Shampoo- Neal & Wolf are not a brand I had heard of actually but I have been loving how soft and healthy this has made my hair feel. Also, because it's cleansing I find I can leave my hair unwashed for an extra day and it gets a lot less greasy so I'm very impressed! Available on the Neal & Wolf website for £10.95.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser- If you've read my Battle of the Cleansers part 2 post you'll know how much I rave about this luxurious feeling cleanser. Starter Kit available for £14.95.

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic- I have only just started using toner and this is one i'm enjoying, it does freshen and brighten my skin and makes it feel super clean after cleansing. Available here for £13.25.

Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser- I think I have found the perfect moisturiser, I love this because I hate heavy- feeling moisturisers that take a while to sink in. This absorbs instantly and feels like I'm wearing nothing at all but still stops my skin from getting sore and dry. Available here for only £3.79.

Keihl's Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream- Now I'm new onto the BB cream market but I've been loving using this! It gives great coverage and when I remove my make up I can see that it has actually done my skin good- smaller pores, more even skin-tone. It doesn't smell great but that quickly fades, full review coming soon. Available here for £23.50.

W7 Lashtastic False Liquid Lashes Mascara- I wasn't expecting much from this mascara but I was very impressed! The plastic brush is great for lengthening and separating lashes and the formula is long lasting. Unfortunately, after about a week it started to clump but for the price it is still pretty amazing! Available here for only £1.50

Sigma mini Blending brush E25- After wanting a blending brush for ages, this is brilliant and so soft. Full Size available here for £13.99

Sigma mini Eyeliner brush E05- This has literally changed the way I do eyeliner, no more thick lines. This helps me apply a really thin line perfectly. Full Size available here for £13.95.

MUA Undressed Eyeshadow palette- I'm late on the bandwagon for this but I have a new found love for neutrals. There are so many looks I can do with this palette and I'm loving experimenting! Available here for only £4.00..

I still can't believe I was lucky enough to try lots of these things for free!
What have you been loving in April?

Birthday Round Up

So last week I turned 22 and spent all week celebrating! The night before my best friend came down to visit me at uni and we spent the day shopping in Nottingham in the sunshine, it was lovely.

Breakfast at Patisserie Valerie

Lunch outside at Pret

She spoilt me and bought me the strawberry pandora charm, Thanks Leanne :)

Then a couple of days later another friend came up to visit (Ivy from misadventures of a 22 year old) and I went on my 'S' themed night out with my uni friends!

I was Superwoman!

Me and my sailor friend!

Collectively we had Snow White, Superwoman, Sully from Monsters Inc, a soldier, a scientist, a superhero and a sailor. We also had a scouser (not pictured).
I had an amazing night with everyone and my housemates were lovely enough to buy me another pandora charm! The mouse in the teacup.

Then Ivy drove us both home and I spent the weekend with family which was lovely.
New Car presents from Mum and Dad! Olly Murs CD, Atlas, emergency chocolate and air-freshener.
Got money from my Grandma and bought my Benefit Perfume

Then on Saturday we went to Southport for posh afternoon tea.

Saturday's OOTD, Primark dress bought on my actual birthday!

Traditional Afternoon Tea

The Best Bit- The cake plate! I actually ate most of both plates, loved the Macaroons and Mini Cheesecake.
After the weekend, I took Mum to pick up her new car and drove back in her old car/ my new mini! Overall I had an amazing birthday, thanks to everyone who made it special.
